The South-Western Coast of the Isle of Wight faces into the prevailing wind providing exciting surf and rugged chalk and red sandstone cliffs. This view (top) is from the car park at Compton Bay providing easy access to the beaches. At windy week-ends this is a popular venue for local Kite and Board Surfers.

Taken from a low angle at beach level this fifteen miles of coast (middle) with its many bays and viewpoints provides the opportunity for fine seascapes. With the reflected clouds in the wet sand and rock formations to give foreground interest, there are many interesting shots The distant backgound of the chalk cliffs and Needles Rocks make a fine backdrop to your pictures.

The Newtown Estuary to the North West is an area of low lying marshes and wet lands that forms a breeding area for many sea birds. It is a very pleasant and rewarding area photographically and an enjoyable walk on the level.

The bottom picture is the old boathouse set against the disappearing sun in Summer. This is National Trust land and there is a hide for viewing nesting sea birds that is open at certain posted times.

. . . . . . and by the way, we forgot to mention the yachts, power boats and sailing dinghies !
